I have heard and read it, but I would get ran over on my commute to work. I try as much as possible, but have to do at least 65 in some cases. I have been guilty of "seeing what it can do" on 3 occasions so far. I have not over revved the engine, but I have got it to 6000 and dropped the clutch, mainly to see if the LSD is locking both tires. I know this is not ideal, but I have only done it 3 times. This maybe an issue with the ZL1 owners who have suede on the dash as well.

Here is what a fellow member had to say: "I deal with an upholstry guy that has been doing it for over 35years and he has been approached by several dealers on this already. He said it's definitely because the way it curves and itll be very hard to remedy for the long term. Just the shape will cause it to do this. As an upholstry guy he said wrapping any material over that kind of contour is a cardinal NONO."

If this is happening to your Camaro I strongly advise you to report this to your dealer at once. GM has replaced these damaged dashes with out question. However, owners have reported to have it happen to the replacement dashes as well. My recommendation is to wait till there is a service bulletin (TSB) created by GM before you have your dash replaced. No one wants to go back to the dealer and have several dashes replaced and or have a tech rip apart your dash multiple times. Best to wait till there is a actual fix for it.

If this is not happening to you (hopefully it never will), please keep a sharp eye on your dash as the temperatures rise as we get into the summer season.

UPDATE: It appears you may not have to replace the entire dash.. My family is the second owner of the vehicle, it has been garage kept its entire life, and from what we know it rarely saw rain or snow in its early years. It has a solid body, no rust, it was repainted in 2006 to a custom black cherry mica with a dark grey metallic racing stripe. the interior has been restored, with classic materials including center console headliner and upholstery on the seats. It has a custom 388 stroker motor with a 4 speed muncie close ratio trasmission and hurst shifter. I'm asking $30,000 OBO, the title is clean, I'm not opposed to a trade.
